Panicked, breaking down... Rant!!! Need reassurance :(
« on: June 04, 2014, 04:30:08 PM »
Ok, I am absolutely panicked right now!!!  B-;

Why is it that EVERYTIME I worry about some symptom, I have to come across articles in which people have experienced the same symptoms and happened to have a serious illness?!? It's extremely frustrating, not to mention panicking!!!! I'm so very anxious right now. Every goddamn time I get a grasp on my HA, there's something around the corner to bring it back up!!!

I've had this spot like bump on my forehead for several months/about a year (I posted about it a few days ago). It's not sore, it's not visible to the eye. I feel it as a spot that just won't come out. Tried too squeeze it, tried some blemish treatment and it's still not gone. So I was just reading the news on the Daily Mail website and came across this article in which a young girl died of bone cancer after finding a 'tiny lump on her head' at age 13. That pushed my 'panic' button. Big time. All my peace of mind went running away. I feel like I'm breaking down.

I am incredibly scared right now. Utterly worried. Do you think it wouldn't feel like just a spot if it were a 'suspicious' bump? Do you sometimes try to escape HA and have it catch you back somehow??  >:(

I know exactly what you mean, I feel like some days I'm getting a grip on my HA and then I will feel some stupid symptom and it will push me to thinking again I have something seriously wrong with my Brain or something else drs have not found. And I just finally decided to stop looking on the internet cause I swear it's like nothing but a death sentence. It will scare the hell out of you. No matter what you look up.

I honestly don't think you have anything to worry about. I think if it was something serious then you would have known by now.

Thank you for the reply :) HA is so, so frustrating. Oh believe me I don't google my symptoms anymore. I know how scary it can be and how receptive we are to whatever, and I mean whatever we read.

Surely if I had bone cancer I'd be having bone/joint pains, fatigue, etc?? Am I being realistic or desperately trying to comfort myself?

I agree it is very annoying. I've been dealing with it since feb and it's been a living hell. Mine started off with something as simple as a sinus infection. And google turned that into a ton of other crap. Big mistake for me!

I really do think you are ok. You can always have that knot looked at. I'm sure it's nothing. Calm down. Know it's hard but if you would have never saw that article, you would not have panicked!

You're correct. Thanks for the kind replies :) Oh, I had a sinusitis (as well as a bronchitis, and an otitis) several years ago and god was it horrible. Pounding headaches, fever, etc. Without googling, I initially thought I had swine flu, until I went to the doctor. I can understand you found some terrifying stuff there! :( Poor you.

You will beat it! I think the key is to ignore it. Normally, your body should warn you when something is wrong. Not the other way around. So we need to control ourselves into ignore the irrational worries.

I hear you! We are healthy. We are just fine. Only thing that's wrong with us our anxiety lying to us. I'm trying to keep telling myself that. It's hard when we feel weird stuff but yet when our minds are not thinking about it, we feel fine.

True. Our anxiety tells us if we don't look too much into stuff, we will pay for it. We must ignore the 'voice' of anxiety if I can put it like that, but it's really hard because the fear is so intense that we don't want to take a chance.

I've been down that road myself and still going, you'll be fine as long as you keep going and move on from your sensations. I've still got a long way to go myself and it can freak me out at times too.

While I've had no bump I've had cases which have frightened me also

Hang in there, I'm sure you will be fine :)

Yes. It's a bit of a struggle but it will pass. I know it will cause i went thru it at 19. This is my second HA struggle and I'm 36. The worst has been this one cause this time I was really sick with sinus infection and had to wait forever to see my dr. Which then I turned to dr google. And that made it all worse!

I'm currently going through the same thing myself. Sometimes it is hard to feel okay when all symptoms are very real and seem to point to something catastrophic. Things can't always be a coincidence can they??

Oh yes, I've been scared of so many other things that did not include bumps or spots! Anything you get anxious about is a horrible feeling. Thank you AnxiousHolmes :)

Kmj023, I can totally understand that. I've had HA since as young as 6 years old. It left me alone for many years, until at 19 years old I started googling too. Which of course sparked another HA episode. It was ok for a few years, it came back at the start of the year though. Since then, I'm trying not to go (too) crazy with it! I am 22 btw :) Hang in there sweetie.

dontfeellikemyself, I think we need something to take our minds off whatever we think might be a symptom. If you truly have a symptom, it will bother you physically, not mentally. That's what I think anyway.
