What helps migraine frequency?
« on: June 04, 2014, 02:46:33 PM »
Hey guys. I hope you're all doing well.

Recently, i've been getting quite a few migraines. 2-4 a month (I know a lot of people have it worse)

I've tried Vitamin B2 (Riboflavin) and Magneseum. Fat load of good they've done. I'm still going to continue taking them - but it's been over a month and no change. Should I wait longer?

My question : What has helped your frequency decrease? IF anything?

I've tried finding a trigger for the past 12 years - can't find one. Sleep patterns may be my worst enemy, but even then, i've been on the same sleep pattern for a month. Still getting more than I'd like.

Anyone got any advice? Trying to avoid the docs... can't be bothered going through the diagnosing process/tests for something i've had for 12 years..

Propranolol, a beta blocker, is sometimes used for migraine headaches.

I agree with marc.

I used to get one migraine a month, plus a couple headaches a week. I felt like I was popping Advil's like tic tacs. Since going on a low dose of metropolol for HBP my headaches have greatly reduced, I barely take Advil anymore. (My headaches weren't related to my HBP as the HBP just recently became an issue, the headaches I've had for as long as I can remember). Something you might want to look in to.

Less computer time.

...which is probably a good thing for us compulsive Googlers anyway!

Thanks guys!

I'm scared to go on to medication for them. I'm only 23 and I don't want to be stuck on pills for the rest of my life to stop migraines.

Magnesium and Riboflavin (vit b2) are something i've been on for a month or two. Nothings changed but maybe i need to try for longer?

I wasn't aware of vitamin b12. I might look in to is.

I'm scared that 3 migraine auras a months = my stroke risk being high :/ AHH.

I'm perfect weight, don't over eat, never smoked a cigarette and barely ever drink. But migraines are my risk factor :(
