Swollen feet - please help!
« on: June 03, 2014, 06:46:22 PM »
My feet have been swelling now for a couple of months. At first, I noticed it happening at my desk at work - from sitting for long periods at a time. Lately though, when I eat too much salt, they BLOW up and it takes forever for them to go back to normal. Even when I don't THINK i'm eating too much salt, i'll wear certain sandals and they will cut the circulation off on my feet it seems - so my feet will swell from that. I have put on 40 lbs in a year, sadly. I have always been a little heavy but not this much. I am a 27 year old female with a kick ass immune system and i'm otherwise healthy. I had bloodwork done last year, and everything came out fine. But I'm scared now that due to my consistently poor eating habits and weight gain... that I'm diabetic or have congestive heart failure. Please advise. Does anyone else get swollen feet often for benign reasons?? Should I worry?? I'm going to the doctor on Thursday, but I could use some peace of mind before then.

If your blood tests are normal I wouldn't worry.  I'm a big girl too and sometime my ankles swell up especially around my cycle. You can mention it to your doc next time you see them but don't make the appointment just for that.

My blood tests were normal last year (April 2013) but it's that time again, so I will be getting them done soon. My biggest fear is diabetes.
