Constantly out of breath :-(
« on: June 02, 2014, 07:52:22 PM »
Hi everyone, I'm only 18 and going through exams and I can't concentrate with this!

I went to bed at 5am last night doing coursework, (stupid, but it's tough) I had 4-5 hours sleep and after a shower I woke up better
all day I've just been out of breath constantly. Climbing stairs, picking bags up, etc it takes my breath. I'm so worried something is happening with my lungs!
When I exhale there's like a fluttery sensation in my chest, and I Googled (shouldn't have) it said lung cancer! I've never smoked in my life, no one in my family does, plus I always avoid people smoking because it gives me heart palpitations. I don't have asthma (another worry)

Someone help!

Thanks in advance. :-)

Lung cancer?  That's why you don't google symptoms.  Anxiety can certainly cause shortness of air, and just being out of shape can do that as well.  If you were a 60 year old with a 40 pack year history of smoking then maybe I would give your fears some credence.  But, you are 18, nonsmoker which points to more benign causes.  If it doesn't improve I would get it checked out for your peace of mind.
