Restarting Meds
« on: June 02, 2014, 03:07:24 PM »
Hello, I plan to go back on sertraline/zoloft after a year and a half off it. I was only on it for 3 months, it helped alot but I wanted to get off them.

I read on here that restarting a ssri will reduce its effectiveness, yet I have found no such thing on the internet myself. What do you all think?

Hi Will - by all means, this is great - if it has worked for you in the past - it is definitely better to go back to something your body responds !

In all of my experience - I have never had a problem of restarting any antidepressant to regain the same positive effects.  I have done this with at least three or four different antidepressants.

By all means, get restarted on them, on you have your answer in 20-60 days (usually sooner, since you this has already proven to work with your body).

Hope this helps, let us know your progress
