CBC Results?

can someone tell me what a complete blood count looks for
can it find stuff like
asthma
lung diease
hiv
aids
cancer
ect

I may be mistaken, but I believe to have things such as HIV, cancer, thyroid, etc., you need to have a special blood test done.  I just had my annual blood test and they had to request my thyroid separately. It wasn't part of the CBC.

I do not believe so. There are special tests for most of those. I have had an thyroid and HIV test done separately. I asked my doctor if any of my blood work would catch lyme disease. He said no and now I will be getting a second test done. When your not sure, best thing to do is ask your doctor. There are so many tests for so many things.

A CBC can be an indicator of some cancers, especially leukemia. It could show up as abnormally elevated or depleted white blood cells, along with various other abnormalities. CBC also shows possible ongoing inflammation/infection.

For the stuff you're talking about, I don't think a CBC would be super helpful. You'd need specific tests done.
