I think I'm having simple, partial seizures
« on: May 24, 2014, 12:56:46 AM »
And in terrified I have a brain tumor!!! Beginning at 16yr old I started to experience my equilibrium go "off" for a split second, I still get this. In the summer of 2011 I began to experience strange smells that aren't there (hallucinations), had a CT scan of my brain which was clear. A few months ago I began to experience déjà vu every now and then, and in the last two weeks I've began to experience a "rising" feeling of some type of burning sensation beginning in my throat and rising up to my mouth, cheeks, then eyes. I am FREAKING out that I have a brain tumor!!!

I had an appt with my GP who did a neuro exam and said I passed with flying colors (reflexes, strength, looked into the back of my eye with light instrument, ect). But I'm still freaking out. I remember someone posting on here that her dad and sister had a brain tumor and her dad had simple, partial seizures - can anyone offer any comfort???

Hello! I know 2 people who had brain tumor(both of them are ok now) and they had seizures that brought them to the hospital. It was nothing partial or benign. they were real seizures. I'm no doctor but i believe you're fine.

A CT scan would show a brain tumor.

Anxiety can cause seizure like synptoms that you are subscribing. I don't think it's a brain tumor,  even if your last ct scan was 2 and a half years ago. The only thing I can suggest is that you see a dr and get things ruled out. I'm sure everything will turn out ok.

Well firstly, try not to freak out. You're doing the right thing by getting checked out, which I feel you should always do if you are unsure about symptoms. I've only known one person that has had a brain tumor, and, like a poster before said, they had a seizure which was very apparent. The Ct scan of your brain at the time was definitely a positive. Just out of curiosity, have you had your sinuses checked? That could certainly be causing your equilibrium issues, the phantom smells, and, indeed the rising burning sensation.

Honestly, none of these sound like brain tumor symptoms. I think it might be anxiety. My aunt has partial seizures and they are nothing the way you describe your symptoms.

The above poster is very correct. A sinus infection and allergies will throw off your balance. This is what happened with me and made my anxiety worse. It will mess up your sense of smell. Sinuses can do more than you think!

Oh and acid reflux will cause burning sensations. Brain Tumors do not.

Thanks for the input. After I posted this my husband and I went out for ice cream and I have an intense déjà vu experience and I was tired afterward. I just don't see how these aren't seizures :-(

You are convincing yourself these are seizures. You went and saw your regular GP, who said you were fine. Had a CT scan, and have some great answers above. Time to start believing you are ok! I know its hard and im currently going through something similar, but I remind myself every chance I get that im ok! Just keep telling yourself you are okay.

I should not say this cause I don't want you to create more symptoms but a partial seizure is when someone goes into a daze for a few minutes and does not even know it. Then after they are back with their surroundings, they have no idea that they just had a partial seizure. My aunt has these and has for years but they are a lot less now. Her son has the big ones and most of the time they are sudden.

If you think you are having them then go to a dr and have a brain test done I EEG or something like that. But you are doing what I did, convincing yourself of something being wrong and it's not logical. I know it isn't. And you soon will too.

Kmj: I love your signature.

Would I have more symptoms if I had a brain tumor?
