Afraid I have Kidney Stones??
« on: May 22, 2014, 11:34:08 PM »
For about three hours I've had an aching pain on my right side that hurts when I bend over or am sitting awkwardly. its kind of in the middle of my side and someone mentioned kidney stones to me about it. Now I'm starting to feel a bit nauseous cause I know it's one of the symptoms of kidney stones. I don't think it can be appendicitis because its not in my stomach. Regardless if it is worst case scenario kidney stones, would I be safe to go to bed and see how it feels in the morning?

Honestly I don't know much about kidney stones but I feel like it would be fine to sleep on it. I had a teacher once who had kidney stones and he knew he had them for a while. It wasn't just a one day type of thing. If it still is bad in the morning I would probably seek out some medical help but I don't think it's any reason to not get some rest tonight   :action-smiley-065:

A kidney stone has often been described as pain worse then giving child birth...so unless you're truly doubled over, I would say it's not a stone. Right side however makes me wonder if it could be your gallbladder? If this is the only time its happened, it's entirely possible it's a pocket of gas, or maybe a pulled muscle. If it's persistent over the next couple of days, or increases in intensity, get it checked out.

A friend of mine gets kidney stones and the pain is so awful she can't walk and vomits uncontrollably.  I doubt that's what's up with you, since it doesn't sound that bad.

I had kidney stones and you would know if you had them or not. I all but passed out from the pain of them. That is how bad the pain is. Could simply have a normal infection. That would cause some pain. But trust me the pain from kidney stones is right up there at the top of the pain list with giving birth.

I had three kidney stone surgeries in 8 weeks a few years ago.
You know if they are kidney stones. I was in miserable pain that would not go away.
The best thing to do is drink water --keep hydrated.
Mine got lodged and hence the surgeries to remove. Not a fun time.
