Legs look different from each other
« on: May 21, 2014, 06:27:56 PM »
Okay so I have this insane DVT (blood clot) fear and looking at my leg the right one (the one I fear a DVT in) looks different. It looks less curvy if that makes sense. I measured them and the right one is maybe 1cm larger than the other, which could be explained because its my dominant leg. Is it normal to have your legs look different from each other? Like they are different shapes?

Yes my left leg is bigger then the right leg don't know why but it is and I measured them lol the calves and its about an inch or less on the right calf muscle.  I also look for things on my arms and legs well all over to be honest for lumps and bumps and spots.

No worries I think it's common.

Wow,  I'm glad you said that!   Just last month I was "studying" my legs and they both look different too!  Not just larger or smaller, but a different shape or something!  I guess that's just how people's legs are, no one else studies their bodies so closely like us hypos.

My right shin curves IN slightly and has since I was very young.  It was quite the 'in thing' to stand with all your weight on one leg with your hand on your hip (some movie star started it) so I spent all my teen years standing like that.  I'm sure my bone grew different because of it.  I'm 63 now and no problems with my leg.

oh man. dont study your legs! I have battled a bad DVT fear in my past as well and it was miserable. My left leg is bigger than my right and it used to freak me out. But our bodies are not symmetrical at all. We are not built in perfect unison. Do not worry about that at all. If you had a DVT you would definitely know!

Thank you guys! I'm glad that I am not the only one who has been through this :-). I've been able to calm down a little bit about it so that has helped. Im glad to have all of the support from here.

My legs aren't symmetrical either; a month or so ago I noticed an odd bulge in one.  Extra fat, I'm guessing - every time I change medication I gain weight and it's really becoming a problem.
