Cat sneezed in my face can I catch anything?
« on: May 16, 2014, 12:41:13 PM »
Today I was petting my cat and he sneezed a huge sneeze in my face. Gross! I also blew my nose and brushed my teeth right after it happened. I was wondering if there was anything I could catch from him if the sneeze got up my nose, mouth, eyes, etc. Could I catch a disease this way? Could I catch the flu or some type of bacteria or amoeba, like naegleria fowleri? I'm really nervous and am wondering if I have anything to worry about or if it's just stupid hypochondria and OCD again.

You ate fine.  I get sneezed on by cats, dogs, and horses on a daily basis.  It's gross but harmless.

My cat has sneezed in my face many times, and my husbands face, and dad's and daughter's... I think he waits until a human gets close enough and lets out a BIG one! LOL!  My cat will also shake his head and drops of liquid from SOME place come flying off him!  (his eyes? ears?) and I've gotten that IN my mouth and in my EYE! Aside from it being gross, nothing has ever happened

I have three cats with pushed in faces and have been hit in the face with many VERY PRODUCTIVE, disgusting sneezes.  Not harmful, just icky.

If it was that easy to catch deadly diseases, we'd all be dead. We are obviously a heArty species, considering there are 7 billion of us and we've destroed countless species in our path.  You seem to have an exaggerated sense of human frailty-- maybe try replacing that thought with a thought about how well we survive on planet earth?
