Shortness of breath, anyone?
« on: May 15, 2014, 07:21:06 AM »
I have been getting shortness of breath with activity as simple as going up the steps, this comes aloing with increased heart rate. I have low iron but my hematologist told me it's not from that. She knows I have anxiety and told me it's from anxiety.....
does this make sense? anyone else has this? Sometimes I feel like I can't breath enough.....
I wonder now if there is a problem with my heart or lungs.....

Please please tell me I am not the only one!  :traurig001:

I have this just about everyday, I also have asthma so it confuses me on which one is causing it. Its like you "just can't get that breath" right? I yawn alot and also find that I'm trying to take deep breaths thru out the day. Its a sucky feeling but both my therapist and primary Dr think its anxiety

Ugh, I feel short of breath right now. I think mine is a combination of my allergies causing my nose to be slightly congested, then that feeling causing me to panic and making it worse. I know I often hyperventilate by taking too many deep breaths in without breathing out properly. Then I feel like I can't breathe so I take more deep breaths in... it's a vicious cycle  :(  It helps me sometimes to watch funny videos, etc. Laughing seems to help get my breathing back on track.

I have "air hunger" that I deal with everyday. It's psychosomatic and last for months at a time. It feels like I'm not getting good air. I have to gasp frequently.

It's probably anxiety, but that feeling can also come from anemia.  Since you know you have both of those things, it's way more likely to be one or both of those than a heart or lung problem!

Just commenting to let you know I've experienced this same thing and it was anxiety induced.

Every time I've had it, a full blown five alarm panic attack follows at some point afterward for me.   So yes, anxiety.
