You are experiencing irritable bowel due to diet and lifestyle. When the bowels act up that means you need a change. Of course they are irritated if you do not eat right and exercise. I hear your story all the time. I work in GI. Your story is more and more common due to all the crap they put in food these days and the lifestyle of being on the computer or cellphone nonstop with no exercise and just sitting there. People think they eat healthy but they are not. It's not good. You should keep a food journal. Also, stretching is important as it relaxes the bowels and the entire body and provides oxygen to tissues. So, to eat healthy, you need to figure out how many calories you need per day based upon your metabolic level and divide that number by 6. So now you have 6 portion controlled meals per day. Only eat fresh, whole foods and keep it diverse. Avoid preservatives and boxed and canned food. Unless if it's pasta. That is the only boxed item free of preservatives but one serving is 2 ounces which is like 28 spiral noodles. Avoid splenda and anything with sucralose as that draws water into the colon then you get the diarrhea. Avoid high fructose corn syryp as that will dry out the stool and make you constipated. Avoid alcohol. If you do want alcohol drink lots of water inbetween drinks. Avoid food dyes. Coffee will give you loose stool, that is a no brainer. Sit upright after meals and chew food slowly. Red meat is hard to digest and really it should be avoided, just stick with chicken and turkey and eggs. Sugar free gum has xylitol in it and that will give you diarrhea and you can also get gas from it if you swallow a lot of air while you chew, also the bacterium in the intestines release gas as they ferment the artificial sugars. So basically try to eat whole fresh foods and your symptoms will improve.
Lately I've been having nausea, that is new. I've also lost my appetite. That part really sucks. T_T I miss eating, and wanting to eat. I miss enjoying food. I've been having alternating diarrhea and constipation, but I'm better than I was.... And I've been having some gasiness and stomach discomfort, but not incredible pain.
