Anxiety, Derealization
« on: May 11, 2014, 10:01:51 PM »
I've been suffering for 5 months now. Anxiety hit me like a train. I'm now on Fluoxetine (Prozac) 10mg every night. It helped at first, but now I feel like I've started over again. Constant fear and anxiety of losing my sanity. I feel detached, out of it, not in reality. I've heard it's called depersonalization/derealization. I don't know what to do. I feel hopeless, alone, and even crazy...

I know derealization can seem frightening when it first hits you. That feeling of been distant from everything around you. There is no miracle cure for it. But it does go away over time. I think we simple get used to it. I used to get it a lot years ago. It just vanished. I think I stopped fighting it. Just accepted it as another symptom of my anxiety. You could try use some form of distraction once you feel yourself starting to drift. That might help. If you learn how to focus on something else. All I can tell you is that with me it simple vanished. Not had it in well over a decade. That was after having it for a few years. Bump. It was gone. That simple.

Thank you so much. It's reassuring to know I'm not the only one.
