brain tumor fear again.
« on: May 09, 2014, 06:21:06 PM »
would I have more than tightness in my eyes, and bouts of off balance feelings, derealization, and vertigo sensations? they have lasted 2 months, on and off, almost always on, I usually feel pretty well after like 1 mg of xanax. then when it wears off I found my eyes feel heavy or something.

I do feel alot of panic for no reason. All started a night after heavy drinking on an empty stomach and not eating anything but a small bowl of macaroni and cheese the next day then had a dizzy spell that evening.

have had it ever since march 1st , seen ent and doctor a few times all say its anxiety ... how do they know? Do they just "know"? Im starting work in 2 weeks, im moving into an apartment on my own finally and im trying to cope with feeling like this.

Would it be worse and would I have worsened over 2 months if it was a BTUMOR.? (I know your not doctors) =)

The first spell sounds like dehydration. Drinking on empty stomach and not eating enough? You needed food and water. All of the symptoms you state are anxiety symptoms. Drink lots of water, too. You'd be in massive pain, probably having seizures, etc. if you had a brain tumor.

I have been dizzy, had feelings of derealization, blurry vision, daily headaches, and right-sided numbness for the past month.  All blood tests negative, brain CT normal, just had an eye exam today and absolutely no signs suggestive of a mass.  We are both fine.  All of the symptoms are related to anxiety.

The thing is im not anxious. Im not even thinking about anything. I am just lightheaded, heavy headed heavy in the eyes, fullness in the ears, and wierd off balance sensations. Its automatic. While driving, watching tv, eating dinner, etc.

Sounds like what I have. I went to ent and just had ct scan of my sinuses and she said if I had had brain tumor it would have showed up. So trying hard to get that out of my mind. She also said I would have had more symptoms. My symptoms are foggy head standing which throws my eyes off looking at far away objects. Forehead feels tight and nasal congestion. And omg post nasal drip from hell. Making me gag and so sick to stomach.  She said I had allergies and chronic sinusitis. I have a little mucus in my maxillary sinuses and clearing up. I feel wobbly some days anxiety makes it all worse. I'm pretty much bed bound. On zytec hoping this will help.

i've replied to a few of your threads in the past because our symptoms are literally exactly the same. i too get the symptoms even when i'm not feeling anxious, so i always get frustrated when someone else passes it off as "oh you're probably just having a panic attack" or something along those lines. it's like, no, i know what having a panic attack feels like, i'm definitely not having one while just sitting on the couch reading a book! like you said, the symptoms crop up no matter what we're doing. but we have to remember that even when we don't feel PHYSICALLY anxious, there's always that lingering anxiety in the back of our head that can still cause physical symptoms; when we exhaust our brains with constantly worrying, even minor worrying without panic attacks, we're not letting our body calm down enough to let the symptoms subside. if our brains had a gauge, we'd always sort of be tipping near the very top of it because our minds are so USED to worrying about something, if that makes sense. so even when we're not feeling physically anxious, our brains think we are, which can explain the lingering, chronic symptoms we experience.

anxiety aside, though, your symptoms could also easily be attributed to something inner-ear or sinus related. i know how scary these symptoms are. my biggest fear in the world is a brain tumor as well, so you're not alone. but since our symptoms are so vague and all over the place, they could easily be something much less serious and very benign. i know it's easier said than done to believe that we're okay when we're so scared of a certain disease, but it's just something to think about. there's always a more common, less serious cause for the symptoms we're feeling than the Big Bad Disease we're obsessed with.

edit: even as i type this, i'm having a headache and sore/heavy eyes with pressure behind and around them. my head also feels super heavy and it's hard to concentrate. but sometimes you have to just ignore the symptoms and pass them off as nothing, no matter how worried you are. that whole "fake it till you make it" can really come in handy when it comes to getting over health anxiety.

thanks guys ---- I felt my dizziness and off balance was WAY worse after swimming in the pool just now, and after an elevator ride at the casino a few nights ago. something HAS to be going on in my brain or ears. my ENT who is like the best in NJ said my ears are fine, wtf does that mean???? can it still be something going on in there? he said no brain tumor... this was 3 weeks into having these symptoms now its been 2 months...

I went to the ER because I felt like I was gonna pass out I was so dizzy and had awful ringing in my ears. They gave me a brain CT and it came back normal and diagnosed me with anxiety lol (how embarrassing). But my primary doctor said that brain tumors are so unbelievably rare and so many people come to her thinking they have them and it's either just anxiety, migraines, or their sinuses acting up. You're fine, it's just anxiety.

The fact that it has been two months should ease your mind. In two months if you had a brain tumor it would have progressively gotten worse and you would be having a lot of issues with your coordination, sight, and hearing. Tumors grow and from what my doctor told me since brain tumors grow into your brain, within two months you would be having a lot of other severe issues. You need to make sure you are keeping yourself hydrated and you need to eat more!! Lacking in both of those categories can cause you to be dizzy and feel lightheaded, etc. I am 100 percent certain this is just anxiety.

Thanks Jess,
I drink like 8 water bottles a day. I just started going back to the gym to life over 2 weeks ago. Still not feeling better thought maybe it would help.
Balance issues are my problem right now still, as for the heavy full feeling in my head and eyes. I pass the neurological exams and that light in the eyes to check your optical nerve.

Hopefully you are right and that it is anxiety. Even though I noticed my dizziness was worse after swimming in the pool today and using the elevator at the casino 2 days ago.

My ENT (1 1/2 MONTHS AGO) did an audiogram for my piece of mind he said, and it was AMAZING my hearing was great. He said I dont have a brain tumor, but this was 1 1/2 months ago. And he said my ears were good, sinus's were clear, nothing.
