Is this a panic attack?
« on: May 08, 2014, 09:30:03 AM »
It's been awhile since I have had one(used to have them constantly). Anyways, last night I stayed up late and I felt my body really tired and fatigued. My eyes starting shutting on their own and I couldn't keep them awake. I guess I got nervous(thought I was blacking out/dying) and my heart rate shot up and It woke me up. This happend several times in a row when I closed my eyes...as soon as I was drifting heart rate shot up. I finally fell asleep and woke up extremely tired.

I use to have something similar at work.  I feel myself drifting into sleep just to jolt myself back awake when my eyes got heavy. It would cause me to get anxious thinking I was passing out.  I had a sleep study and it turns out I have sleep apnea.

I had a sleep study done awhile back and they said everything was fine, yet my wife says I stop breathing a lot when I am asleep.

Has anything changed since your sleep study?  Like new meds or weight gain.... benzo's can relax your throat and cause apnea.  If your wife seeing it first hand then maybe you developed it since your last study.  If its really bothering you then you might want to bring it up with you doctor.  My fiance' recorded me once, it was scary to watch. My jaw/mouth was moving, I could see myself trying to get air.

I am overweight but I have lost 35 lbs and have been feeling worse. I do not take any antidepressants.
