Worried about my 4 year old.....
« on: April 29, 2014, 06:00:51 PM »
I'm really worried about my four year old daughter.  I've noticed that for the past 6-8 weeks she has a broken blood vessel on her cheek.  I've been worrying for the longest that it's a spider angioma but the more I look at it the more I think it's not.  Either way, it's been there for a few weeks.  I've also noticed I can see a couple blood vessels through the skin by her cheeks/eyes...idk if its just thin skin or the blood vessels in her face are becoming dilated....pretty worried and every time I look at her face it sends a wave of fear through me again.  What would cause this?  My obsession is liver problems but I'm trying not to jump to conclusions.... She does have asthma but has not had problems with it for a few months.

Why don't you take her to a doctor instead of freaki yourself out for the last 8 weeks looking for answers online?

Her dad took her in yesterday.  The doctor said to not be concerned at this point and he would run tests if more appeared.  Now of course I'm worried something is potentially wrong and that more will appear.  Also, there were questions I wanted to ask that her dad didn't.  So she's been to the doctor but I'm still concerned.

Kids get weird stuff all the time... Of course I'd be careful but I wouldn't panic. Keep an eye on it... If anything changes demand he tests it.

Is your daughter very light-skinned?

As a husband and father, let me say: If you have specific questions for a doctor and you're not going to the appointment, write down every question you want answered.
My wife comes home from the doctor with everything answered.
I come home from the doctor with a lollipop and a shoulder shrug.

having said that, my younger son had a burst blood vessel in his eye for weeks. The doctor said that it just takes a long time for the blood to reabsorb into the body and that it was nothing to worry about. Happens all the time.

If she's fair-skinned those thing are super-visible.  She probably fell or something.
