Worried about something else now....
« on: April 23, 2014, 10:54:53 PM »
OK, remember in my last thread how I was worried my son would suddenly regress?
Well it happened.

This past week he has had an explosion of language he started trying to mimic us more and started saying more words too.

Then this morning he wakes up and he isn't doing it anymore. He has a slight cold. I'm having to scream to get his attention. Usually when his dad gets home he runs to the door when he hears it opening but Today he didn't hear it at all and didn't know he was home until he saw him.

I turned the t.v down and he got upset.. like he couldn't hear it.

Could it be he actually has been getting glue ear?
He seems a little clumsy today. I hear ear problems will cause issues with balance.

He is always sticking his finger in his ear, like they hurt but i always thought it was allergies (my ears get itchy).

His nose is always running even when he isn't sick and he snores sometimes while sleeping.

Could he have been having intermittent hearing loss all of this time?

Also, could any conditions cause a child  to regress that quickly? Could he just be having an off day?

Cold = congestion = clogged ears.  Feeling sick means he's going to talk less, be less active, be less pleasant and sociable.  How cheerful/chatty are you when you feel crappy?

Well, I don't think he feels too bad, because he is still very active...

Although he did throw up at dinner, and last night he crawled in to bed with me whining and puked a little in his sleep.

His behavior is OK but he isn't wanting to repeat my words or follow directions... He was acting like he didn't understand me...

I think you need to read some parenting books. Tis is classic child behaviour. I know. I have a child and I worked in daycare for five years. When you are throwing up do you feel like talking a lot. Hen I am nauseated, i don't like to talk. Kids are the same. They are humans. Stop overanalyzing. You are doing him a HUGE disfavor. Cnstantly nagging a child will annoy them and they wont listen.
