Please help.. thoughts? .. abdominal pain
« on: April 21, 2014, 12:35:52 PM »
i have had ongoing right sided pelvis pain and abdominal pain. It does come and go, however it is there a good part of everyday. I have seen a doc, numerous docs about and no one can tell me anything about it all. I have had a ct scan and ct scan with contrast done, a colonoscopy and an endoscopy and i have had blood work done. I am so scared as the pain RADIATES TO MY BACK, that it is cancer. I am afraid of ovarian cancer that has spread. Please help. I do a lot of burping as well, which I have read has been a sign of ovarian cancer (increased gas) as well. I have scheduled an appointment with my gyno but I have fear it is terminal cancer and I don't know why. Please help.

I've had this for the past two months but over the weekend it seems to have vanished.  I understand how scared you are.  Is it possible that this could be muscular?  Google the internal obliques and see where they are located.  They run front to back, so many you've strained it?  That's what happened to me.

Edit ;; I probably shouldn't have advised you to google, so I will link you to the muscle's page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abdominal_internal_oblique_muscle  There are also other internal muscles that reach from front to back.

Has it gotten worse in this time?  I'm inclined to think something bad wrong would have gotten worse in two years time.
I've heard these symptoms before in relation to ovulation pain and also cysts, which are mostly benign.  Shoot, I thought every horrible thing while I was hurting but apparently each was wrong.  Outside that, I'm not sure.  Maybe it's just tension?  That's where I hold mine.

If youve had blood work and a CT scan I can bet you its not cancer. This happens to me in almost a cramp like motion. Are you on any birth control? IUD? if not could also be spasms of sorts. if its there then not there it could be anything but anything comes and goes is usually not a conerns unless it comes and goes and gets worse each time. I would try not to stress and find what helps keep the pain away : )

I'm not sure if my issue is exactly the same but I wanted to post to maybe ease your mind a little.

Last January (2013), I started to get pain in my lower right abdomen.  It would be in my lower right abdomen and radiate around to my back and even down into my thigh.  It would come and go and some months would be worse than others.  I went to see my primary physician who pushed around on that area and couldn't feel anything and I had no pain either when they did that.  However, the aching pain would still continue.  I was thoroughly convinced that I had ovarian cancer.  No doubt in my mind.  My primary finally suggested I go for an external u/s of my abdomen to check out all of my organs inside as well as an internal u/s to check out the uterus/ovaries.  I did both.  Amazingly, everything came back normal.  I was in complete shock.  Would you believe after I got that news the pain disappeared?  I haven't had any pain since the u/s results came back.

What does your doctor say about your fear of having ovarian cancer?  I agree with other posters that after all of the tests you've had done, something would have shown up by now.  The discomfort you are feeling could very well be simply hormonal.

Do you notice it more at different times of the month or is it just every day?

I know how scared you must feel because I was terrified and Googled constantly.  Just know that odds are it's something other than what you think and most likely nothing at all.  I think, too, that sometimes the more you focus on something and think about it, the pain will continue.

I am also having pain in my right abdomen and back. I had an ultrasound of my ovaries and there is a 1.5 cm simple cyst on my right ovary. According to my ob/gyn it should not be the source of pain up to my waist and ribs. I just saw a GI specialist this morning and he referred me to have a HIDA scan done because an ultrasound didn't show any stones. The HIDA scan shows how the gallbladder is functioning. He also gave me Bentyl which is an antispasmodic. He said sometimes we get kinks in the intestines and the medicine relaxes and undoes kinks. He said it could be a result of abdominal surgery like c section, which I had. Anyway, one dose of the medicine is already helping. Maybe you could ask about a HIDA scan or trying Bentyl to see if that helps.

I could have written this myself. Like you I am a 30yr old female. The pain for me started over a year ago.
It is usually in my lower right just inside my hip bone area. Pretty much where my appendix WAS. I say WAS because sometimes I wonder if it's still there. Thanks HA

Anyhow I went to a GI doctor and told her my symptoms. I told her that sometimes it feels as though something is in there large like a football. It goes up under my rib cage and I have had the occasional quick groin pain but that's new and very rare.

I had a CT scan done Feb last year and that's when they discovered my appendix had to come out.
Like you my mind goes straight to cancer. Today it could be colon cancer and tomorrow ovarian plus there is the occasional liver cancer worry.

It does go into my back sometimes but not so much as a sharp pain but a general discomfort. I really think it's my gall bladder but haven't brought myself to go back to the doctor since my bad experience in November.
Basically she said I have IBS and she didn't "feel" my stomach at all or even give it a listen.

She told me it was due to constipation. I seen my OB in Sept who said everything felt fine with my ovaries.

Like the previous poster my GI gave me the meds for spasms. I read that abdomen surgery can mess with your intestines. I sometimes wonder if the pain below is from scar tissue.

I still have that same pain and I thought about ovarian as well. Just like you I have done all possible tests out there and nothing. We were about to do endometriosis tests and just before scheduling we discovered I was pregnant so we ruled out that one too. I don't have gall bladder to do hida scan. I did tho have h pylori but even after antibiotics I still had the same symptoms. Itís been a year and still struggling with same :(. I honestly don't think its cancer because they would see it on ultrasound or ct scan, I do think you should never stop looking for answers. I am due in summer so after that I will again look into what causes my abdominal back pain. Mine radiates to my hip and sometimes all the way down to my leg.
