the breath thing again....
« on: April 20, 2014, 11:56:09 AM »
I know there was just a post on this a couple of days ago. The whole shortness of breath thing. I can never "get that full breath" I get this everyday....for most of the day!!!! I constantly feel like I have to take deep breaths and yawn!!!! I'm often confuses if its my asthma or anxiety so I tend to overuse my inhaler.

I went to the ER last night because of it. Got an ekg-normal. Got a chest and lung exray-normal. That proves its anxiety right? I'm on meds and go to therapy. Just want to know that I'm not alone and know others stories.

Yes, anxiety.  SOB is a very common symptom of anxiety.

Have you considered a change in your meds?  You should NOT be having this much anxiety and obsessive thoughts.  Sounds like the dose you're not is not enough or you need a different drug.

Well, the obsessive thoughts have been much better, and some of my anxiety in general. My psych and I are playing with my meds to get the right thing going. My lungs and heart have checked out so it can only be anxiety and stress right?

That's right.

I used to get horrible shortness of breath with my panic attacks when I first started having them.  I thought I was dying each time, but no, it was just anxiety.  Miserable stuff, I'm sorry you have to deal with it!

I don't get actual panic/anxiety attacks. I just have anxiety all day every day. I always find myself yawning alot, taking in deep breaths and shallow breathing. My brother has it all the time but isn't a hypochondriac so just brushes it off. I just don't get why its been going on for days lately.

Yes it sucks that's one of my main problems. Doesn't help I have sinus issues along with a suspected hiatal hernia. I hate it so much...

I have this every single day too. Once you notice your breathing differently than you should, you start only focusing on it which in turn makes it 100% worse. Ive been trying the stomach breathing more, but that doesn't seem to help. Not sure what will help me anymore, but your definitely not alone. I smoke cigarettes because it helps calm me down yet it makes my breathing worse. I'm sorry your going through this too!
