inflammed chest and lungs??
« on: April 18, 2014, 07:31:03 PM »
Ok, long story short. I have allergy induce asthma and extreme anxiety and ha. I've gone from smoking a pack and a half per day to a half of pack per day. For the past 4-5 days...my chest feels tight and inflammed. My lungs feel the same way. Kind of "scratchy" inside and I feel I have to use my inhalor alot more lately. My gp just saw me and said lungs and heart sound great. I know the smoking doesn't help. Anyone else? Note..i don't get short of breath or anything when I'm walking or moving around.

Rib cage pain can be costchrinditis or however you spell it. PE really has shortness of breath, pain with inspiration, bloody mucous etc. one or many symptoms.

You might be coming down with a chest cold/infection like bronchitis.  A lot of people seem to be getting those lately, so maybe there's a virus going around.  If you get congestion, see a doctor, they might be able to give you something to speed up the recovery process.

yes, i just saw my dr a couple of days ago. said my lungs and heart sound great. peak flow meter reading was perfect. ive cut down drastically on the smokes....but i know i need to just stop.

maybe ill go to the ER to get a chest/lung ct scan..even though im trying to avoid that =( i dont have a follow up appt with my gp until 4 weeks from now.

i wonder if over using my inhalor is causing some irritation?? because i don't know the difference between anxiety breathing issues and asthma. uuugggghhh im so frustrated :sick0002:

Ask for a D dimer(detects blood clots) no need for a chest CT yet. Google is getting you lol.

Depends...if you really feel it's necessary. If you have done a multitude of tests and doctors have told you that you are fine, then try to talk yourself out of it. If you really want to go to put your mind at ease then do so, but just remember Dr/emergency bills add up! I KNOW!!!!! IF this happens to be anxiety then you need to find the root cause and try to help yourself. First and foremost though, take care of yourself and determine if this is an emergency.

Well when I saw my Dr a couple of days ago, she said its a mix between my asthma and anxiety. But the irritating scratch feeling in my lungs is really bothersome. Maybe it is my allergies who knows. And my heart rate is high because I keep using my damn inhaler ...uuigghhh maybe I'll go to the ER just to be safe

Well I broke and went to the ER. All vitals were fine. They did an ekg and a chest/lung xray. All is absolutely normal. Doc said its a mixture of anxiety/asthma/allergies. And to def throw out the smokes! I think tomorrow I'm just going to go cold turkey

Good luck!  Quitting is hard, but it's the best thing you can do for yourself, especially with health anxiety.
