tumor fear
« on: April 16, 2014, 12:52:22 AM »
On my right side, there's a spot near the lower part of my rib cage that has a lump, and you can't see it protruding from the skin or anything, but I can feel it and I don't have anything on the left side that's like that.
It's soft-ish and I can move it around once I find it somewhat. And during my spring break almost two weeks ago, my stomach was hurting and that area was also sensitive--and my stomach wouldn't stop hurting on and off for nearly 5 days. I went to the doctor and she said it could've been a stomach bug that burned out quickly and she didn't think the lump was anything to worry about but she thought it was muscle--however the lump wasn't as prominent as it is now.
And last week my stomach hurt once again for two days on and off and that part of my side would hurt randomly.
It doesn't hurt when I touch it and mess with it, but I'm still concerned? And I want to go to the doctor again, but my mother keeps telling me that everything's fine and that I shouldn't worry about it.
But I can't help but think that it's something cancerous--but I don't know how to tell if it is or not without going to the doctor. And I feel like even if I do go to the doctor I'll just be kinda blown off like it's nothing because I worry about things so much and have been so many times.

*EDIT* since i was just messing with it, it's kinda swollen now? and I can feel it without searching for it? Should I take that as a good thing? Because I feel like if it was bad it wouldn't swell if i touched it a bunch of times? It'd just stay the same???

I have had a tumor under my skin and from my experience they are not soft and movable, it also did not swell if I played around with it :) I wouldn't worry about it being a tumor.

I'm very glad to hear that, if you don't mind my asking, where was the tumor and how did you know it was a tumor? I mean besides having it diagnosed.

My tumor was on my shoulder where a sports bra strap would sit. At first I noticed a small bump that I actually thought was a big bite, forgot about it then noticed it again a few weeks later and that it was bigger probably the size of a small grape. I seen my dr and she thought it was a cyst and we decided to leave it. After about a month it had gotten a bit bigger and the only symptoms I had that were stRange was I always had dark circles under my eye that I never had before and the lump was itchy. Like stab a pen into the lump type of itch. Very hard to describe! She decided to remove it and sure enough it was some rare type of tumor.

Oh wow, I'm glad it was decided to get it removed. Did it hurt when it was touched or anything?

Nope. I could poke at it all I wanted and it never hurt, just felt like a marble was stuck under my skin but it didn't move at all. Just the weird itch sensation that was it.
