Cancer worry!
« on: April 14, 2014, 08:52:40 PM »
I'm a 25 y/o male with worries of stomach/throat/esophagus cancer worries. The reasons I'm worried is because my dad has cancer and it started with stomach cancer and now it's spread and he's not doing well and I woke up today with a sore throat and some odd stomach feelings. I've had a bump at the back of my throat to the left side for the past couple months that has bothered me a little. The bump just looks like a raised area a little smaller than a pinky nail. Today I've look everywhere in my throat and to the back going down are small little bumps. I had an endoscopy done two years ago that show mild gastritis and a very small hiatal hernia. I also had an upper gi last year that I think showed no abnormalities. Another reason Im worried is because I've had so many ct scans and X-rays that I'm worried about the radiation exposure.

Things that ease anxiety
-At the moment it's just a sore throat that I've had for maybe a day.
-The fan was on all night
-I have post nasal drip
-It could be allergies
-I'm young
-I've had ct scans last year of my chest and stomach that showed nothing thought it was without resolution

Things that worry me
-My dad has it so I have a predespostion to it
-The small white bumps going down my throat
-All the radiation exposure I've had in such a short time

Those bumps are part of normal throat anatomy.  Sometimes they can get bigger and bother you.  I have had this happen.  At this point, I really don't believe you have cancer.  But if you are really worried about having a predisposition, get regular endoscopies.
