Weaning Xanax side effects
« on: April 09, 2014, 03:59:49 PM »
My Cymbalta has kicked in pretty well.  I was given Xanax 0.5 mg extended release until the Cymbalta was up to speed and now I'm weaning off the Xanax.  Has anyone noticed issues with coming off a scheduled dose of Xanax?

How long have you been taking it and at what doses?

Then you shouldn't have too many problems getting off it. However, the XR formulation does present a problem as it shouldn't be cut. You will need to get a prescription for Xanax immediate release, or you could switch to Valium (diazepam) and wean of it. The Valium switch is the best way of doing it when short-acting benzodiazepines like Xanax have been taken for a long time, but is probably not necessary in your case.

I am in the process of weaning off of Xanax XR.  My doctor gave me regular xanax to wean with.  You have not been on it that long so you shouldn't have much problem weaning off.  Good Luck
