Thinking about going to the ER
« on: April 08, 2014, 11:50:08 PM »
I cant take this anymore. I have to know if something (MS) is wrong with me.

If I go to the ER, could they give me an MRI. or what? Any advice, opinions would be great.

I have no health insurance but I probably couldnt afford a ER bill either. I dont know what to do :(

Im not going tonight.. but thinking soon. I have to tell my Hubs first ;/ I dont want to go alone.. but telling him will be hard..

If you have no health insurance it would be cheaper to just go to a doctor to put your mind at ease

Yes they do put you can't go in there asking for an MRI they treat emergency based things. That's why it'd be best to find a dr if you can I know in my area we have dr for ppl who have low income/ no insurance maybe you can check that out in your area

Yeah, you can't just walk into the ER and say you want an MRI. Leave the emergency room for the emergencies. Yes, hospitals work out payment plans, but it's still going to be upwards toward $3,000-$5,000+ for the MRI ALONE, not to mention the doctor's pay, facility charges, any other tests, lab work, etc.

You are definitely better off going to a regular doctor that is willing to work with you. Without insurance, though, pretty much any MRI you get is going to be very, very expensive. In my city, the cheapest is $5,000. The lowest I've ever seen is $2,000.

Look up your city's Department of Health website and look through their resources.
