I get very superstitious, too, with my HA thinking. Which is so weird because I am definitely NOT a superstitious person any other time.

OCD is tough. I too have had to force myself to not get my own test results. If your doctor says you're fine, then you are fine. It wouldn't be someone else trying to trick you or calm you down. Not possible. Not gonna happen. Do try to really get serious about treating your HA/OCD. I used to worry constantly and think about the same sorts of things you do, and I do not have that problem anymore thanks to therapy, self-help, and medication. You don't have to live your life like this.

Your endometrial biopsy came out clear, so now you've got to work on clearing your head.

Hopefully your appt. tonight with your Dr. will help you get out of panic mode. I know all about that feeling and it's not a fun place to be. Until then, let it sink in that your results were NEGATIVE! You're fine, there was no mix up.

I'm still not calm...but recognizing that the underlying issue here is my unwillingness to accept that the results were not what I had feared. I see that I keep trying to make them not real...

That's a good thing to realize. It's your MIND - not reality. Your brain is trying to find any way to keep you in fear mode. "What if, what if, what if?"

Do something you enjoy and distract yourself!

The positive thing here is that you KNOW your thinking is off.  Your psychiatrist can work with that.   You don't sound crazy, you sound OCD, that's a common disorder that CAN be  helped.

Today I created my "hypochondria mantra" sheet. This is a mantra I created back in '09 when I had an HIV thing that got pretty bad. I write the statement 'Hypochondria is the insistence upon illness despite facts to the contrary. This is not real."

Then I write three bullet points under this statement that summarize "the situation" in factual terms. They have to be short and there can only be three. Whenever my mind tries to go to the fear, I make myself pull out this piece of paper and read it, preferably out loud. I may do this up to several times a minute. But I keep doing it until eventually, the words start sinking in.

It is a very tough process but before, it helped me build that little bit of comfort that could push me further and further from the crazy. I hope it works this time. I've come up with so many "what ifs" that I've worked myself into a mental maze.

I think the "hypochondria mantra" sheet is a great idea. You're definitely headed in the right direction.  :happy0151:
