Surgery tomorrow - scared
« on: April 07, 2014, 06:39:07 PM »
Hi Everyone,
I posted before about my upcoming myomectomy (fibroid removal) and my fear of the surgery especially general anesthesia.  Well tomorrow is the day and I am still so scared.  I don't know how I am going to do this at all.

Any advice?  Only positive stories please....

I will be thinking of you. I have surgery in May to remove a tumor and I am scared. Not from anesthesia because I have had that. The anesthesia is quite nice actually.

Thanks Brick,
Everyone does say the anesthesia is nice, I don't know why I am so scared.  I wish you well too, I am sorry you are scared.  I would't wish this on anyone, the only good thing is it is almost over.

Thanks for replying, it helps to feel I am not alone.

I hope everything goes well. Just think about how good you'll feel after it knowing it will be out the way x

After the Fentanyl you won't care what they do to you.   :laugh3:

I posted on one of your earlier posts...I think anesthesia is wonderful! They will take excellent care of you. Update us when you can.

I used to be really scared of general anesthesia too - for me, I think it's the fear of not having control - I ended up needing some emergency surgery and had to have it and it went fine.  I'm sure you will do ok.  Good luck.

The thought of anesthesia and surgery makes me nervous too. I think like others said it's letting go of control. But once you get there , and the smiling nurses start talking to you and getting you ready, you will feel better . And just try to think about how close you are to resolving whatever problem your surgery is correcting. Hugs and prayers that you have a speedy recovery!
