sharp stabbing pains in head!!! anyone?????
« on: May 09, 2008, 02:00:47 PM »
I have on and off for the past few months had very sharp stabbing pains on one side of my head! it is starting to freak me out again.

I had a CT scan, which they said was fine, but what if its an aneurysm??  do they show up on CT scans or do i need an MRI?

I'm really worried about it now. My Mum's sister had a aneurysm when she was 39, so I'm freaked I'm gona have the same (Dont know why! but hey, no such thing as rational thoughts with HA!!)

Does anyone have this? Do you think i need more test :dazed:

A CT scan with contrast should show any aneurysms, AVM's or tumors. Your pain may be anxiety related,
migraine symptoms or maybe neuralgia (basically harmless). My doctor always told me to keep a log of all
my symptoms, including time of day, position you are in, etc. This will help your physician diagnose
you better.

I've had it before Red.  I don't know why, it didn't really cause a lot of alarm with me, but it hurt like h***.  I think I was to focused on other ha fixations at the time when I was getting them.  But if you had a CT scan it would have showed anything sinister so I'm sure it's anxiety related.

I had this for a few months and the doctor said it was anxiety, it comes and goes now.  Do you think it may be ice pick headaches? They are harmless and really sharp pains in your head? Mine was more a burning sensation than pain

Good luck

Or it could be a case of nasty sinus pressure from allergies.  I've been suffering with stabbing pains on one side of my sinuses, since spring allergy season began.  :dazed:

your last remark just made me feel better -- i get those stabbing pains near my sinus membranes on the left side of my head too.  sinus pressure everywhere, but then a random pain that I can almost rub away
