ok sorry jenny but im just confused cuz you posted asking for some advice, and yet you say you dont have symptoms of anything wrong, but then you made the post so i dont know...ill just say this and then im done cuz i dont wana upset anyone else, ii know you dont have symptoms of anything serious, which is why i said just monitor it and see if it gets worse otherwise youre fine, i was just looking out for you cuz its a vision thing, thats all.  i also said that i had the same symptoms before and that floaters and flashers are symptoms of anxiety, ive had them and ive visited ophtomologists and they said nothing was wrong, and the people i spoke to over the phone always told me to come in just to be sure, cuz they probably dont want to be liable for anything..i was also trying to explain the receptionists actions because you seemed very angry that at what she said, like she was deliberately trying to scare you or something..maybe u jus took it personal she doesnt know that you have anxiety or anything, she was looking out for you and not trying to scare you, and i thought those were helpful words but i guess not..but if youre not having any symptoms and you feel lke youre ok i dont know what other advice i was supposed to give other than "yea youre right that receptionist was a total idiot." is that what u wanted to hear i dont know

I didn't post asking for advice, I posted asking for support, if you'll reread my post. I didn't ask for anyone to diagnose me.

which is what i thought i was doing...  i wasnt giving you diagnosis im not a doctor.  if that was the case i woulda been like yeah flashers and floaters could be MS or glaucoma, go get a brain MRI done, or somethin like that

jeez all i said was its probably just anxiety and youre right its nothing serious and the receptionist just was looking out for you i seriously dont get what the big deal here was all about

Xalatimo is this so hard for you to understand  what Jenn was going through? You are obviously not getting it because you keep being condescending.
She did not really worry that much about her floaters because she believed the Dr when he said not to worry about it. Obviously the receptionist said something that got her nervous, has that never happened to you? It has happened to me and that is why I understood that she just needed a bit of calming down. When you are in the middle of being scared, you cannot think rational. Maybe you can, and that is great but obviously the girl was nervous and came on here for help.
This is part of the problem, because  fear almost paralyzes us we cannot think too rational and get a bit out of control. It doesn't mean that we need a pacifier all the time but someone that can have an input to snap that person out of their fear is all that sometimes is needed. Jenn just needed that, a kind word of understanding, something to ease her fear at that moment. Some people might need constant reassurance , some people you need to be a bit more blunt because that is the only way you can snap them out of their fear..but make sure you know who can take that.

Mentioning MS and glaucoma is the same as mentioning retinal detachment.

And thankyou Kat for sticking up for me, everything you said is true, and Xalatimo if you can't understand that you should not be on a board like this.

ok.. i didnt know that the main concern for her was the receptionist. i thought she got panicky because of the symptoms and what the receptionist said so she thought that the floaters and flashers actually meant something serious, just because of what the receptionist said.  i was trying to address the symptoms but i guess that didnt matter to her.  yes this has actually happened to me too.  1 time a nurse over the phone told me go to the hospital as soon as possible cuz i could possibly have tetanus, c uz i stepped on a nail like a month before i called in with symptoms... and i had almost a heart attack so i know how it feels, lol  it just ended up bein allergic reaction to medication, NOT tetanus

You can be done all you want, but this board is for people who need help just as much as it is for people who want to give help. It's great that you can tell me I'm beyond help when obviously I'm not. By the way, has anyone on this board been on your side? And I'm the one causing problems? Besides the fact that I do not just ask for help, I give people advice as well and I've been on this board way longer than you have been so please don't brag about your advice giving abilities because I'm not interested.

Anyway, if you want to keep arguing with me do it over private messages so we don't use up anymore of this board with the arguing.

Xalatimo chill out dude, why did you have to mention ms and all that jazz anyway...that can re ignite fears in people..I was a bit surprised myself. You can't expect to say a whole bunch of stuff to someone without hearing some back.
Lets all just relax.

on my side...what is this a popularity contest? yes any advice i give in the ocd section the people who suffer from it have thanked me so i guess they are on my side.  and whataprettyworld seems to agree with a lot of things that i say.  also, how about go ask sda if she sides with me or not, at first she didnt like my advice but then she went and told me that its great cuz it forced her to look at things in a different way and she THANKED ME for it, so im happy i made a change in at least one persons life.  so yes, i have given advice, im not a GOD i just try to help people but some people have to hear everything they WANT to hear otherwise they get pissy so i guess i will avoid you for fear of saying the wrong thing from now on

You need to figure out who you're style of advise is suitable for, most people need a bit more kindness..not such a blunt way of saying things and making them feel bad.  I am sure you are not trying to make them feel bad on purpose but you're approach might not work in some people.
I mean look at the way you are taking it and how defensive you are , you are not understanding that its you're approach that is making you seem cold And on top of it you are being rude trying to make a point,  you are missing the point.

#1- not a popularity contest, but I don't see how I am the one causing a problem when everyone else on the board agrees with me.
#2- its not that i only want to hear what i want to hear, but you are simply wrong. i didnt ask for advice on if i should go to the doctor or not, so i dont see why youre suprised i get pissy at you for offering unsolicited advice.
#3- you do have to be careful about what you say around here, thats just the way it is. many people with HA are very sensitive and you can't go around throwing things such as MS and going blind around like that. it's very rude and inconsiderate to do that to someone.
#4-again, i dont care how good people think your advice is.

i already read it like a hundred times and i still just see it as harmless, i just offered advice to someone that seemed like she needed some cuz she had a panic attack because of what the receptionist told her.  basically my advice in summary was

a)ive had the same symptoms
b)dont take it personal the receptionist is just looking out for you and being safe
c)if things get worse since vision is important *I* emphasis on I, would go to a doc *IF* things get worse

so the way i see it, if jenny really thought nothing was wrong with her and she had no symptoms why get all upset at the receptionist in the first place, so obviously she did get a little frightened and i thought calming her down by telling her that the symptoms are jus anxiety would help.  and if she didnt think it was necessary to go to a doctor, why did she say in the end that she DID schedule an appointment.  i never told her to go see a doctor i told her what I emphasis on *I* would do..if she didnt like that advice she didnt have to go to the doctor.

im tired of defending myself, maybe u can read my post again and see if i did anything wrong but i just dont see it, and i dont think we will come to agreement who is right or who is wrong unless you put up a poll and have people vote  which is a complete waste of time, so im droppin the subject

Ok, I think we should just drop this, chalk it up to a misunderstanding over what my original post was saying/asking for. No point fighting over something as silly as this that was resolved hours ago.

A few years ago i had flashing in the corners of both eyes off and on. I went to my opthamologist
and he dilated my pupils and found nothing. My understanding is there is a clear gel like substance
that fills the inside of the eye. Sometimes this substance pulls or tugs on the retina for no reason.
This causes the appearance of flashing lights or lighting streaks in the eye, although there is actually
no flashing light present. These flashing lights may appear periodically for a few weeks. Flashes of light that
appear as jagged lines, last for 10-20 minutes and occur in both eyes are likely caused by a spasm of the
blood vessels in the brain and may occur with a migraine headache. Usually the worst case scenario is a retinal
detachment which may be repaired by surgery. This information was told to me by a client of mine who
is an ER physician. My best friend is an internist/cardiologist who concurs.
