Oral problems, some help...pls.
« on: April 03, 2014, 10:53:50 PM »
I am freaking out again, someone help me (God I miss chat)

Ouch..just in front of the palatoglossal arch (the thing with the dangly uvula on it) on both the left and right side about half way between the roof of my mouth and the tongue,  I have two small (size of a pencil eraser, roundish) flat yellow/pink areas, one on each side of my mouth nearly identical locations. I have had these for years and have seen no changes. I should also mention I had these when I got my oral cancer screening 2 years ago, and the dentist said I was negative (fine). I am not sure how far back in the mouth the dentists even checks or if this is not part of the screening process.

I do not have tonsils and as far as I know those occur behind this arch anyway. Needless to say I am concerned as heck about Cancer and freaking out. I was unable to google much of anything regarding this because every return came back as "Cancer something" and I was forced to stop.

Does anyone know if glands, ducts, etc are found in this area? what little I found on major saliva glands indicated they did not occur there or I misunderstood and minor saliva glands were listed as occurring all over which is a bit to vague for a hypochondriac.  The reality is, I can not afford to see a dentist again and i'm looking for some peace of mind/info here.

Please help, two days in a row now, I have been unable to sleep anxiety etc.

Dentist look well, and I would think you mentioned anything of concern.   I know it might seem they look quick, but I think they really know what to look at easily having done it often.

Could it be due to things you are eating irritating any areas.   Acid, spicy, scratchy like chips.

I have had both of these for a couple of years now. Literally one on each side of the mouth where I described almost identical placement. For the life of me I cant find a thing on google other than cancer to suggest what it might be....Minor salivary glands came up but these are pencil eraser sized or a tad smaller, not minor imo.

Don't go by Dr. Google.    Just ask your dentist.  I would think trusting his opinion and face to face or mouth to face.  lol  is better than Dr. Google.

I have a pimple type bump on my left upper gum above a tooth that I know needs to cone out. I'm freaking too. It's been here since August and has made no change in appearance either. I had the ER look at it and run blood work to see if there was any infection when I had a virus but no infection. I'm so nervous to go to dentist again. Plus our insurance isn't so great for dental in my opinion. We have to pay aso much for dental work. I just feel so discouraged. I know I need to get the tooth pulled. I have no pain. I will go as soon as I can get some extra money.

Does anyone know if it is normal to see veins and capillaries in your mouth on the cheeks, roof and floor of mouth?

I looked.  Yep.  I think we have veins and capillaries everywhere as they carry blood flow, nerves, feeling.   They have to be there.   Maybe depending on skin or tissue thickness, or age, we notice them more.
At my age 58, I notice my veins more as my skin in thinnner.

So they have been there for 2 years without changing, and have been inspected by a dentist and you are concerned about them?  You are forming a vessel in which to pour your anxiety into...you are not thinking logically about this.
