anybody else?
« on: April 03, 2014, 09:44:10 PM »
over the last several years, when taking my temperature - i've noticed my temperature is below what others consider to be "normal"... my temperature is always between 97.5-97.9

has anyone else had this before? and if so, have you had it checked out? if you have had it checked out, what was told to you?

thanks in advance!

98.6 is average…meaning that there are people above and below that.

I routinely run around 97.  It's always that at the Dr's office and they've never said a word.

You aren't alone.  Mine is routinely below 98.6, very often it is in the 96's.  Makes me feel like I am halfway dead.  I told my doctor and he didn't really care.  I made him take my temp right then and there.  It was 98.something, figures!!  My thermometer is not broken.  I have several of them and they all read the same low temp.  What I would like to know is this - if I have a "real" fever, as in my temp is 101.6, since my normal temp is 1 or 2 degress below normal does this mean my "fever" temp is really 102.6 to 103.6?

lol.   I have a few thermometers too.  2 digital and one new non mercury , but a shake down old fashion kind.

Mine used to run 97's.  Now it runs 98's.  Not sure why the change.   I take supplments through my dr.  Maybe it adjusted things.  I had off levels that have been better.   Who knows.

Mine has been in the 97's lately. Nobody seems to be concerned. I guess some people just run lower temperatures.

I hope you get an answer! LOL!   Mine runs 97.7 t 98.3 the highest, if I'm 98.6 I say, "Oh no, I have a little fever!"  But yours is a lot lower normally.   You should ask a doctor that question and as a matter of fact if I remember I am going to ask MINE in 2 weeks since I have my regular BP check up appointment.

Like someone said 98.6 is simply the average, you're personal temp may vary.  For me 98.6 means I have a fever.

I'd recommend you stop checking your temperature. Are you sick and feverish? No? Then put it away. The monitoring is making your anxiety worse, not better.

For the record, mine runs lower than average—in the 96s, and my mom's does as well. That's "normal" for us. Normal's different for everyone, remember that.

In case anyone is still confused:  googling your symptoms will cause you to remain in a state of extreme anxiety. Stepping away from the internet is the first step toward lasting peace.

I don't know why anyone ELSE here is taking their temperatures, but I take it if I'm chilled for no reason or if I feel "off" (Never sick though)

With HA at least for me, checking vitals is a way of trying to find something that is ok.  Yes, odd I know.
