Female Bladder issues
« on: March 30, 2014, 12:39:57 PM »
Does anyone here have any of the following?

* leaking urine when coughing?
* leaking urine when bending or lifting?
* leaking urine after going to the toilet?
* feel like their bladder is not fully empty?

I have all of these and I feel so alone with my fears.

Have you had children? I've had a little incontinence after having my daughter. I also get urinary frequency and urgency and I think a lot of things can cause it. UTI, menstrual cycle, drinking a lot of fluids especially coffee. It could be because you are thinking about it too that makes you feel like your bladder isn't empty .

Yes I've had two children.

My youngest is 1 and I've had a problem since having him altho I've only recently acknowledged it.

I am paranoid though that I've got all this urine in my bladder and only some of its coming out. :(

Also meant to add ice had my urine tested all clear.

I been told I have a prolapsed urethra mild. I also sustained a 3rd degree tear with my last labour.

You can thank your kids ;)  It's an incredibly common malady for women post childbirth.  I had one friend who couldn't walk without leaking thanks to a twin pregnancy.

What are your fears?

It is one of the joys of having babies. I have had 4 kids and lets just say, there are many things i can not do. Jumping being the worst!!!
Its no cause for concern. practice your kegels.  There are even tools out there (Balls) etc that can help you with them if you arn't too sure you are doing it right. That is the advice given to me. I have every symptom you have listed. Relax and squeeze!!! LOL   ;*)

Thanks Soaringfalcon
My main fear is that there is some sort of tumour pressing on my bladder. Either in my pelvis or in my stach somewhere. I feel this pressure in my right side nears ribs too. I had scans when I was about 20 weeks pregnant and all were clear. But I do realise given my baby has just turned 1 that, that was a while ago.

Papyapa thank you.

Was it yourself who wrote before about going for pelvic scan to check?

I'm struggling here not to go to A&E I'm so terrified.

It's definitely from having kids…especially if you had a 3rd degree tear.  Pregnancy and especially delivery really weaken the pelvic floor muscles.  You have nothing to worry about. :)
