Sharp pains in head
« on: March 25, 2014, 10:22:45 AM »
Has anyone ever had sharp pains in their head? In the same spot each time? I've been getting it for a while and it's freaking me out.

Yes. I had serious stabbing pain In one spot for over two weeks. Felt similar to being stabbed with a knife I imagine. Pain medicine didn't help, which was scary. I got an MRI and it came back clean. Soon after the pain dissapeared and the neuro threw some anti-anxiety meds at me. My mom told me not to take it as she had a big thing against anti-anxiety meds. 4 years later I'm finally taking the same meds, lexapro.

It's scary! I don't know what would cause it other than a tumor. Neck problems? I'm going for another MRI soon so I will see...

Sharp head pain that comes and goes is normal type of tension headache. If it's constant/consistent, I would understand wanting to get it checked out. It's probably nothing serious though, some people suffer from "ice pick" headaches oon a daily basis. Good luck! :)

I was wondering how it went.  Don't worry about not looking, as a non-doctor, we have little chance of identifying anything on those.  They're just too confusing.

MOST anxiety happens at the subconscious level.  JUST because you don't feel consciously anxious or had a day or two of calm doesn't mean your mind & body are relaxed.  It can take months of reduced anxiety before a body goes back to a more non-reactive state.  - AnxietyZone member Sixpack

Don't look.  It will look like gobbledeygook.  Untrained people can't tell what's going on.  You'll see a dark spot and think, "Oh no, dark spot!"  When in reality, it's only a dark spot, nothing more.

They call if something's wrong.  No news is good news.
