I've posted on here a few times over the last couple weeks about somewhat elusive symptoms primarily revolving around a dull, aching pain in my right abdomen directly below the ribcage.  People have been very helpful and reassuring but today I am freaked out again because the pain is more severe than it has been for over a week.

It started that I would feel this pain when I was running, but then after a long run about two weeks ago it's been more or less here to stay.  Sometimes it fades but I can always feel "something".  Although I've still been exercising, I avoided running again over the past 2 weeks because I was afraid it would get worse again and freak me out.  I did run last night and now it's been non-stop aching.  Also, when I was running, the aches and pains would be kind of all over my stomach area, the left side as well.  They aren't really sharp pains, more of a dull ache.  I do have some digestive problems, namely feel bloated and have diarrhea a lot recently.  I am so scared that something is really wrong, but I can't tell if I'm just focusing on this so much that it's making it worse.  It feels very real to me.  I finally scheduled an appointment with a doctor though I have been afraid to do so for the past 2 weeks for fear of finding something is severely wrong.

general info:  I do suffer from general health anxiety, but this time my fear is through the charts!  I am 30, female, eat pretty healthy--I'm a pescatarian and avoid dairy and never eat fast food or anything like that.  I drink way too much alcohol, lots of times because I find it provides the only relief for my anxiety.

Thanks so much for any help/advice!

I had liver area discomfort, just like something was there and present, and stabbing pains in my liver area! I was sure it was liver cancer or some cancer that had spread there. I had that feeling about a month before I headed to the doc. He palpated all over my abdomen, nothing showed. I got a full abdominal ultrasound, very detailed, and it was totally normal. My pain and that strange feeling went away right after that. :p never knew what caused it , just one of my many many many weird phases of symptoms that happen to me year after year. And the docs say I'm healthy. I have a bit of a hard time believing them....
Oh also to add, I have IBS type issues on and off and have for years.

I have exactly what you are describing and I've had it for about 3.5 years now on and off!!

It's what kicked off my ha as I went to gp and she thought maybe gallstones. All clear. They did find a cyst on my liver but it is tiny. I had to have an MRI to double check it and this is what threw me into a complete panoc as by this point I had found google.

Anyway MRI showed cyst benign. Follow up 6 months later all fine

I asked the specialist then this was what was causing my abso ache at my ribs and round my back and he said definitely not. I also notice it more if I have been out power walking.

I've no idea what it is but rest assured you are not alone.

Hey, I've been going through the same thing! I noticed that the pain stared 2 weeks ago when I was jogging. It happened a couple of times when walking. I'm going to bring it up to my doctor on Wednesday...I also found a small bump there. Everyone is telling me that it's fine but I'm so nervous

Its most likely your anxiety. I have the same thing except its under my left rib. Comes and goes throughout the day. Always a dull sore muscle sort of feeling. Occasionally I'll get it on both sides of my belly, in the center, or almost like a band going around under my ribs. Mostly its just been under my left rib. Doesn't matter what I eat or what I do, it just comes and goes.

thanks, yeah, mind is concerning me more because I felt the pain only when exercising for a few months, and it seems to be getting worse as now I feel it all of the time and it is getting sharper and sharper.  It is possible it is getting worse because of my anxiety.  I am seeing a doctor today, provided I can force myself to go.  I usually get to scared and end up cancelling the appointment right before, but by now the uncertainty is driving me crazy and I can't think about anything else.

Hi!

It could be muscular since you said it comes on while running. No harm in going to the doctor to get some blood work done. Ask them to check your liver levels. If nothing more than for peace of mind! Good luck!

I just went to urgent care for something similar.  I had these "stabbing" pains on my right lower ribcage.

They did an X-Ray and a test for clots and all was okay.  They said I most likely have cortochondrosis, which is no big deal, just means pain and inflammation of the rib muscles.

Could this be similar for you?

Oh my god this sounds like me I am so scared at the moment :-( my problems started about a month ago I kept getting severe nausea upon wakin in the morning (this is still ongoing). Since then my symptoms are:

Pain in left rib (stabbing pains/dull ache)
Indigestion issues/heart burn (never suffered with this before)
Constipation or Diarrhea
Feeling heavy in the stomach
Bloated
Burning sensation in stomach
Now I'm getting dry tickly cough
Sore/burning throat

Please someone reassure me this is just anxiety :-( I've been to docs 3 times now he didn't seem overly worried though he has now referred me for a stomach scan which has sent me spiralling out of control as beginning to think something is seriously wrong with me :-(

I am sure it's just anxiety. Your doc just wants you to stop coming back so he's giving you the scan ;-) you'll be fine. I just got back from my appt and the doctor thinks I'm fine, just stress and anxiety and maybe too much working out (I do that all the time to distract from HA).

My stomach and side pain is very similar to yours, the  only difference is I don't have nausea or sore throat (although I very frequently get them, just happen not to have one now). She said the type of pain I described is almost certainly muscular which is a good thing.

I am nervous about  my blood test results though

Shelly, I hope everything went well!  I have only had a breast ultrasound.  with that they were able to tell me immediately -- as they were doing it -- whether anything looked abnormal or not.

how are you doing?
