It really boils down to what you describe as sinister. Could it be harmful and evil? It depends on how out of control you let it get.
It sounds like it points towards anxiety, in an Anxiety board we are pretty Anxiety based so it is easy to say that Anxiety can be the foundation of a lot of what you're going through. Does that mean this is your fate and this is the end? Absolutely not, you need to find your "outs" things that bring you back to a controlled state of mind. Do these symptoms subside when you are doing things you enjoy or is it always lingering there in the background?
I have a few "symptoms" that are anxiety-induced that tend to hang on and linger to me, I do my best to shake them off... but when I do something I enjoy or something that enlightens me... for the time being, whether it be a whole day or a few minutes, I no longer feel that strain or weight.
Anxiety is not a disease nor is it a plague. It is only your body's state of awareness.. Let it fester and it will knock you in the dirt, but through understanding and control, you will be able to sit on the saddle and these problems will no longer continue to fester.
