Does anyone feel their doctors made the wrong diagnosis
« on: March 13, 2014, 06:48:17 PM »
Sometimes I often wonder if my doctor dignosed me wrong. They say all my symptoms are being caused by anxiety, but when symptoms don't go away, Iget so frustrated. I had 3 MRI;s, blood work neurological exams,  but I still worry  they missed something. Of course my major worry is MS, I heard how difficult it is to diagnose.  Meds don't really work, so wouldn't this mean the problem could be more physical. I am so scared!!!!!!!!!  Any advice

Try to get referred to an Endocrinologist. Have a complete blood panel done on everything. If it's physical it could be anything from hyperthyroidism or very low testosterone levels.

It definitely can be anxiety.  I know because I went though this.. and I don't have MS. It was anxiety.  If you want to make yourself feel better, start taking vitamin D and look at the studies on it. Vitamin D and prevent and in many cases relieve the symptoms of MS. And if you don't have ms... vitamin d is good for you anyway.

Right now I'm seeing a therapist for cognitive therapy and a physician who prescribed Buspar for my GAD.
I often feel my therapist and I are on different pages, and that she doesn't fully get GAD.  She keeps looking for
triggers but I tell her GAD does not have triggers.

Today's therapy session was tricky.  I was going to come clean and tell her I had started taking Buspar already.
But she seemed so against me taking meds while doing therapy, I didn't tell her.   She couldn't give me an estimate
of how long till I felt relief with therapy.  I told her that many have results from Buspar in two weeks or so.

So I told her frankly, that I would see her for one more session and then decide whether to continue or not.
At our session today, she did give me some helpful meditation techniques for calming my mind.

So I kind of can relate to your topic here.

Is a neurologist looking at your mri scans? Cause believe me they know what there talking about when it comes to ms and all that, neuros are basically doctors on steroids lol. I've almost somehow wanted to try to make my neurologist my primary doctor, they are very intelligent people.

Ms and anxiety are so similar it's insane, I literally just talked to my neurologist and he looked at me and said you...do not have ms. It would show up on the mri. Honestly neurologist can probably diagnose and treat anything, any other specialist could. There brain doctors dude, they take like 15 years of schooling.
