Stomach Bug=Heart Attack?
« on: March 02, 2014, 06:39:20 PM »
I am very sick...I threw up three times, constantly sleeping, HR of 112, fever of 100. I went to the ER with severe stomach [mid stomach pain, 8/10 in pain], docs say it is a stomach bug. No diarrhea, though. Breathing slow and weirdly, sleeping all day....I fear I had a silent heart attack. Docs said I was TOO young, pulse fine but elevated because of sickness. I keep burping, sleeping, like I have flu but they say stomach bug. I read so many accounts of people w/flu like symptoms that really had a heart attack and got misdiagnosed. I am dizzy upon standing, too. I have had left arm pain and chest tinges all week with baaaad heartburn that I attempted to ignore. I am 16..am scared that I was misdiagnosed, woke up sweating :( SO scared...tummy throbs, which raise AAA fears. All I want to do is sleep. :| Left arm pain now...so tired, fever not going down w/Tylenol yet. I passed out asleep in my ER room. Help?

Sounds like a stomach virus. Drinks lots of fluids.  Feel better.

I am seeing my therapist sometime this month. Docs and mom say I no longer have a choice. STILL having a consistent fever and bloating, despite Tylenol

I keep having profuse sweating with activity, despite my fever being down and my upper back gets achy from time to time...makes me nervous to do much. I don't know if this is the virus anymore.

Of course it's a virus.   You probably didn't eat and not eating when ill will make you weak which in turn will cause you sweating with activity.  Give it a day or 2, you will be normal again.

I ate some bad shellfish on Friday. Spent the last two days on my back after spending Saturday night with my face in the can. All you can do is ride it out. You'll be okay, just nibble crackers and sip water.

UPDATE: most of the fever and vomitting has gone away but the upper stomach pressure, bloating and indigestion has not. My breathing also feels very odd, kind of like I am not breathing at all or will stop suddenly and like I have to force one out. I kept falling asleep randomly today, despite not having a fever...the continued bloating and pressure and weird breathing makes me fear the heart issue.

The bloating and indigestion are horrible with this bug.  It can last up to 2 weeks.  It's pretty miserable but totally normal.

That's what my Dr told me and what everyone around me has been experiencing.  The only thing he could suggest was no dairy.

Anxiety also causes indigestion.  Try to relax.  You're going to therapy soon, right?  That will help!!
