Fumes from plumbing lines being backed up
« on: February 25, 2014, 12:06:31 AM »
Ok, so as we were going to bed tonight we smelt an AWFUL SEWER smell! We ended up figuring out that when we drain the tub in our hall bathroom the sewage/water comes up into the shower in the bathroom thats in our bedroom! There is not really much we can do until we get someone out here tomorrow and while googling about clogged sewage lines I read some stuff that freaked me out!! Like, the fumes are harmful, deadly, can cause explosions!!!!? Anyone know anything about this, im so worried for my whole family! I also actually closely smelt the shower floor when we were trying go figure out what was going on (I know, so gross) now im terrified that im going to get sick!

Methane can be bad if it stays there a while.

I would plug the drain in that tube for tonight and have a plumber check it tomorrow.
You should be okay for to night with just that little bit coming in.

Sounds like a clog between that tube and the main line.
