For about the last three weeks, I've had pain under the ribcage on my left side. A bit of Googling suggested it might be costochondritis, which I've had before on the right-hand side. I went to see my doctor, who listened to my chest to rule out anything cardiac and said she tended to agree with me. She gave me anti-inflammatory cream to rub in, and it has started to improve though the discomfort is still there (particularly when I make certain movements).
Last night, I had a bizarre dream in which I went to see a cancer specialist who informed me that "you have a tumour on your kidney — I don't think it's cancerous, and even if it is I wouldn't lose any sleep over it, as we can remove it easily enough and you don't need two kidneys to function".
On waking up, I Googled the symptoms of kidney cancer, and to my surprise pain in the side is one of them (although I don't think the pain is in the right place or of the right type to be anything to do with kidneys).
Part of me wonders whether my subconscious is attempting to tell me something and whether I should get an ultrasound done at the hospital, whilst my other half thinks it would be a complete waste of time, as I dream about all kinds of surreal nonsense (though never before anything health-related).
What does everyone else think?
