Acne on scalp??!!
« on: February 24, 2014, 06:35:17 AM »
Has anyone of you there experienced acne on scalp at the top of your head? Or do you have them now?
I just had a massage and the therapist noticed and she said i had pimples on my scalp. Which freaked me out.... Again! I am scared of anything that is related to allergies in skin that causes rashes, bumps and bruises. I am also scared that thinking this is related to my Health Anxiety obsession!!! Ahh Hypochondriac here i am again!

I am using Head & Shoulders shampoo and conditioner and i only wash my hair once a day. And also i am using this hair cuticle coat which is oily after i blow dry my hair.....

I hope i am fine.

Sorry for being such a Hypochondriac

If you have hard water, it may be the cause.  Washing your hair daily also may be the cause.  It might even be the shampoo, the conditioner, or the cuticle coat you use.  It's likely they've been there for a while, not something sudden, so you're fine  :happy0151:

I do get some acne in my scalp, but I have hard water anyways, and hard water can cause acne.

Hi there, @Lost_Loki. I'm sorry but what does hard water mean? You mean chlorine water?

Hard water is typically water from a well that hasn't been filtered or softened in some way.  There are high instances of metals and minerals in the water, that can clog pores (ie. Calcium)

Chlorinated water, what I call city water, can also take its toll on skin, hair and nails.

In essence, it boils down to whether you get well water or city water.

I get it too.   Don't forget there are a lot of oils on your scalp and pores get clogged.

I've had acne/boils on my scalp but mostly on the back of my head for years, likely because I'm a compulsive picker, they are basically just infected hair follicles. I've heard but cant confirm that using head and shoulders shampoo too often can cause it. I also use head and shoulders quite often
