Leg feels numb, cold and pins & needles
« on: February 22, 2014, 10:16:58 AM »
Hi All,
My left leg keeps going kinda numb, and feels cold, and has pins & needles. This has been happening for a few days. At first it was happening when I was sitting, but not in a particularly awkward position, just when sitting in a normal position with both legs side by side. Now it seems to be happening more, like even when I'm not sitting. I can feel the occasional twitch too.
Please help! What should I do? What could this be?

Hi,

It sounds like typical anxiety symptoms to me. I've gotten all of those symptoms before as well as itching and "shocks" (feeling a sensation like an electrical shock is moving up my leg).

I get most of my symptoms at night when I'm trying to sleep. Do you experience yours only when sitting?

I know they are scary. When I first experienced them, I first thought "MS". They are very common and harmless sensations, part of your anxiety.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply. Yeah, I seem to only be getting these sensations when I am sitting down. I am very focused on it now. At first it was numbness and coldness mainly, but now I am getting a lot of twitching.

I don't feel particularly anxious at the moment, so I don't know why this new symptom has started :(

you don't have to be anxious, really only focusing on it.  My right foot, ankle and calf kept getting tingling, especially when sitting!   Then for 2 days I was wondering if my throat was getting sore so I kept focusing on that and then realized, "HEY!  My leg isn't tingling and I've been sitting for about an hour!"

I have experienced these exact same symptoms....my anxiety shot up so much one year that my whole arm went numb for a day!! I went to the doctor's in a panic. They took my blood etc. Absolutely NOTHING was wrong with my health. It was ALL a manifestation of my stress and anxiety. It's amazing what the body can do under stress/panic and worry...better to live without it huh?
Easier said than done but Anxiety brings a PLETHORA of physical symptoms! It's part of that nasty cycle of worrying etc. We have to rise above it and acknowledge that's its just the anxiety doing these things to our bodies!

My leg and foot are still doing this. seems to happen mainly when I'm sitting down, no matter what position I am in, even if there is no extra pressure being put on this side. It's pretty much constant, every day when I am sitting. Still twitching too. And still worrying me :(
