Any one ever take Klonopin? Did it work?
« on: February 17, 2014, 01:43:21 PM »
So, I was just prescribed Klonopin by my psychiatrist for panic.

Does anyone have any experience with this puppy? I'm a little scared to take it, although I also really want to.

I know it can be addictive, but I don't really have "an addictive personality" or anything so i'm not really concerned about that part. I'm more concerned about side effects, etc...

Any one?

Lemmee know.

I think it would be best to post this on Medication part of forum.

Anyway, I was taking it 3*0.5mg at first and then lower to 2*0.5mg, finally 1*0.5mg. It worked very well when I started 3*0.5mg for the first time.

Ive taken .5mg for 5 yrs at night only. I have gad, panic, depression. It has worked for me as my only pill. I have no side effects. I have tried to taper and have not done well, so I do worry about trying to come off of it. Im going to see my pdoc about switching to valium. Klonopin has been a great med for me, I just want to taper now. Good luck! Ive had no panic since I started it!

Has it been prescribed to be taken daily, or only as needed?

You won't become addicted, but of you take Klonopin daily for more than about a month you will almost certainly become dependent and will have to wean off it when discontinuing it.

Usually the only side-effect is sedation which typically diminished after a couple of weeks. Be extra cautious when driving, etc, as the sedation can affect reaction times.

NOTE: I'm not a doctor, and particularly not yours, so there may be factors I'm unaware of. Therefore all advice is of a general nature and you should consult your doctor before following any of it, especially before changing med doses.
