Thanks for the welcome, Potatoes!

My SA alternates between moderate to severe depending on my stress level. Most of the time it's moderate.  I've never been officially diagnosed, but I have taken medication for anxiety in the distant past.  I saw a therapist after a bad breakup, and told her some of my other symptoms, and she prescribed Paxil without really giving me a diagnosis.  I was on it for a few years but got off because I couldn't take the side-effects.  Now I'm just trying to manage it naturally through self-help books, supplements and exercise.  It's helping but progress has been slow.

Now I have a question...

Were those side effects constant?

I just had my first panic attack today... and I haven't since I started this medication. like a pretty gnarly panic attack. like my fingers buckled up and I was on the floor hyperventalating panic attack.

Glad to hear that your therapy was working out for you. my SA is getting better as well... You got a Psychiatrist?

Sorry to hear about your panic attack.  Sounds like you had a pretty severe one! :(

Yeah, I'd say the side-effects were pretty consistent.  They didn't become really bothersome until my doc upped my dosage after it seemed the drug stopped working.  That helped control my SA but I started having terrible fatigue and weight gain.  And even with dosage reduction, it didn't seem to made a difference.  But then I developed involuntary limb movements (myoclonic jerks), which didn't concern my doc, but frightened me enough to get off of it.  Once I did, they went away.   I did this without notifying my doctor at the time, as I was low on funds and couldn't afford to continue seeing her.

From what I've been told, though, side-effects from psychotropics, as well as effectiveness, can very greatly per individual.   What med are you taking?

Presently, I'm not seeing anyone for my SA.
