Mind running away with itself
« on: February 14, 2014, 07:25:00 PM »
So the past three months I've been dealing with leg pain and that has caused me to be obsessed with blood clots. I've had on and off pain in both legs...in December I went to the ER twice and had 2 d dimers tests and they were both negative. My PCP also said that, after an exam, that I don't have a clot. But the pain hasn't gone away...now I have had heaviness in my left leg....can all this leg pain and heaviness be anxiety? It's driving nuts and I have days when  not scared and others where I'm conviced I have a clot! Help!

I've never had blood clots and I don't worry about them, but, my Mom has blood clots in her arms - called Deep Vein Thrombosis.  Her symptoms were swollen arms and very swollen hands with very swollen veins in her hands.  She had pain and aching in arms and hands along with red flushed skin.  Her skin on her arms and hands also felt hot to the touch.  My Mom knew something  was definitely wrong.   Also, she had an ultrasound that found the clots right away.  I hope this eases your mind a little bit as it seems you don't have these symptoms.

I had a co-worker many years ago who had a blood clot in her leg and I remember specifically that
her leg was red, hot to the touch and swollen.

That's what a lot of people say....if I had a blood clot I would know. I think it's the few stories I read about people who get PEs without knowing. I know it's the minority but it's all I think about
