extreme soreness around ribcage and chest
« on: February 13, 2014, 05:33:10 PM »
Hello,
since yesterday Ive been feeling like I was beaten up or something. The area around my ribs is super sore, feels like a giant bruise, but I can't see anything.

Could it be from my period? I never experienced anything apart from migraines and cramps.
I'm scared it could be something worse, like a heart attack creepin on, or something in my lungs.

Does anyone have an idea of what it could be?

Thanks guys

Have you done any kind of pushing or pulling or lifting lately that you aren't used to doing?

When does it hurt?  When you press on it?  When you twist a certain way?  Or just a constant ache?

Heart or Lungs wouldn't hurt when you'd move or press on it - a MUSCLE would do that.

Your muscle hurts most likely. Give it 2-3 days and don't check often it will only raise your anxiety.

Sounds like costochondritis.

thanks for replying, everyone!

why would my muscles be this sore though? I haven't done anything unusual.. I work from home, but move around enough.
The only thing different is that I got my period today, and the pain started yesterday...Would it be related?

I wouldn't think it would be related to your period.  You can do something you aren't even aware of, just the "wrong" way and pull a muscle.  One time all I did was turn my head to the side and I did something to a muscle in my chest!   It was horrible!  (Felt like my chest wouldn't expand that's how BAD it hurt when I'd try to breathe in!)  It should start improving in a few days if it's a muscle.
