Mole removal scar
« on: February 13, 2014, 02:19:34 PM »
Hello everyone,

I got a mole on my back removed and biopsied. The biopsy came back fine, but I'm slightly concerned about the scar. It is rather large, dark pink and there seems to be a bump growing under the scar. Is this normal? Should I be concerned?

Thanks in advance for your advice!

Candace, the dark pink is quite normal and can take  years to fade. I had one removed on the side of my knee over two years ago and it's lighter, but still pink.  You might be developing a keloid scar.  I have that in a couple of areas where I had liver surgery. There's some over the counter stuff you can buy to help with that but unless it's in an area that's very noticeable, I'd just let it go. Hubby has some that are HOT pink and stick way up on his shoulders and back.

Sounds like normal healing to me and between the two of us, we've had probably 45 spots removed.

Thanks for your response! My husband looked at it today and seemed concerned so of course I got worried.
