Frustration
« on: April 19, 2008, 10:44:05 AM »
I am really frustrated this morning.  I have a lot of muscle tension on the left side of my neck and left shoulder/shoulder blade area...it isn't excruciating pain or anything but it is uncomfortable and I am so tired of it.  I am not even overly concerned as to why it is bothering me so much but more concerned that I will never feel good again, that some part of my body will always hurt.  The neck tension has been going on for a few days now.  I try really hard not to sleep on that side, although I wake up sometimes on it...  my sciatic area also bothers me...it isn't really bothering me so far today.  I just want to be able to wake up in the morning and not have some part of me that feels like an eighty year old woman.  I am only 27!  I have had muscle tension before in my neck and shoulder but this whole sciatic thing is new to me.  I seem to think that if it wasn't for the sciatic thing I wouldn't be so concerned but that probably isn't true.  I just felt like venting this morning.

Does anyone know if muscle tension in the neck and shoulders could cause the sciatic area to get aggravated?  The whole left side of my back feels like I slept on rocks last night!   :traurig001:

I know how frustrating it is to wake up day after day and feel pain.  It wasn't long ago that I felt like a 90 year old man every day and I'm only 36.  I was complaining to my Grandfather and he was going along with me and said that he hurts everyday too. I laughed and told him that he was 89 and had a right to have pains!  I don't think sciatica can cause neck and shoulder pain but I do not know for sure.  Usually if you have neck and shoulder pain without a physical cause it is stress related.  Often times the more you think about it, the worse it will seem.  When I was having the neck/shoulder pain I would take a very long and very hot shower to try to loosen the tension.  Sometimes I would even put Icy Hot (Balm, not the cream) heavily on those areas while in the shower and it helped.  When I got out  I would rub in some Blue Emo which also helped.  My best suggestion though for neck and shoulder pain is to get a professional massage.  It will help break up any knots and toxins that have built up in that area and really help you feel better.  Drink lots of water after that to flush toxins from your system.  Also deep breathing and visualization might help.  You will feel better again, don't worry!  I felt the same way just weeks ago, but now I feel great and have no pain whatsoever in my body.  Just give it time and tlc.  Good luck and hang in there!
