Duration of GAD
« on: February 10, 2014, 02:07:21 AM »
Does duration have any effect on recovery from
GAD? I have actually been slightly improving on my own without treatment but I'm not even coming close to where I wanna be... Does longer duration reduce chance for recovery? I am 2 years and 2months in from when my anxiety started...any reassurance? I know I come on her for reassurance a lot and maybe annoying but it makes my days And my recovery better and more promising..... Does chronic anxiety and stress cause any permanent un fixable damage mentally? Does normality come back with treatment ? Thanks guys

Chris, I wish I could give you an answer.  I have what I think is an episode of GAD but it's just lasted
about 1.5 months.  And I'm crossing my fingers it's seasonal to the winter and will go in the spring.  Did you try to google your question?

I am also bipolar ii and I can tell you that meds and buddhist chanting has allowed me to lead a very normal life
without moodswings for 20 years.  It's more a matter I think of finding a way to managing a condition, more than fixing it.
And I'm an optimist and believe that recovery is always possible, regardless of duration.  My two cents.

Thanks .... I'm not so much as looking for a cure so to say but enough relief to not have it constantly on my mind all day everyday u know? Some anxiety here and there is quite understandable and acceptable
