Quitting Smoking...
« on: February 08, 2014, 07:24:02 PM »
To all the people who have successfully quit smoking, I am on day 4 of no smoking and I honestly cant believe how tired I am at random times during the day, like right now I feel so tired I could fall off my chair and sleep for 12 hours! Is this normal?? Any other fun things I have to look forward to???

Kendall,
Great job!! Congrats! I quit 7 weeks ago, and the first few days I was extremely tired. I would wake up in the morning, get my kids off to school and go back to bed. Then I would take another nap in the afternoon. I was very sleepy. This subsided I think probably after the first week or so. I'm not feeling like that anymore. Now the only thing I can't shake is the nasty phlegm I'm coughing up daily.

I quit 6 years ago it was really hard but I stuck with it! Wait until you go about 2 months into quitting and the dreams start where your smoking and you wake up in a panic thinking noooo I quit and was doing really well!!! Good luck!!

i've just started cutting down on smoking because i'm ridiculously paranoid about my health and i've been having sinus problems for several months (which of course has me jumping to every possible conclusion and thinking i'm dying) and i'm really struggling
I've been so distracted by my worries that I forget I'm addicted to smoking, go without a cigarette for a day, and i panic when i start to feel tired and nauseated, not realizing that it's just nicotine withdrawal! it's sort of funny.

i can't seem to sleep and i'm all achy and tired, i just hope it all improves now that i've decided to quit completely
it's hard because i'm 19 and when my friends go out, they smoke

I've been quit for 5 weeks now and I'm still tired lol. Some days are worse than others and my anxiety sometimes goes a little batsh*t crazy but all in all it hasn't been too bad! I have already started the dreams where you are chain smoking like nobody's business and wake up all distressed that you just ruined your quit lol. I'm using the nicotine patch and it works great for me. Good luck to the rest of you trying to quit!!

First of all, congratulations and good luck in sticking to it.

It's not at all surprising that you're tired. #1 your body is going through withdrawal from the nicotine and that's a lot of extra reserves for your system to use. #2, nicotine is a stimulant, it keeps you more "up" so without it in your body the energy certainly will take a nosedive. Unfortunately
