I know there are a few people on here who do get disability.  Varied reasons.  It is a LONG process, but it IS possible.  I would check out your options now.  You can probably find out info online.   :happy0151:

I was on disability a while back. They expect you to be out of work at least a year and have documentation about your disability from your doctor. They say there are other means such as welfare in that initial year. It may take a couple of years, but it can be done. You have to first fill out the paperwork and then go to several evaluations. They turn you down several times, but you can't give up. It is best to get an attorney to help fight for you. They do charge 33% of your settlement. I think you have to have so many credits of work in a five year period to get SSD. If not, you get SSI, which is not much, probably around $500/mo. It all depends if you're married and your spouse's income. If they make too much, they give you less. You can only have a small amount of assests and savings. You do get medicaid though. Good luck! Are you on meds or go to counseling? That may help you mentally.

Apply for it now because it takes an absurdly long time to process.  When you are denied disability (everyone seems to be denied), you have the option to appeal.  Please get a lawyer.

I didn't have a lawyer when I appeared before the judge.  The judge asked how I could I be at the disability review if I were housebound and crippled by panic attacks.  I told him that I had taken a huge dose of Xanax.  Anyway, he wrote in his report that my agoraphobia, GAD, and panic disorder were just a "tantrum."  At that time, I had had anxiety problems for 2.5 years.  That's a long tantrum!  I was denied benefits.

I did get food stamps and medicaid when I first became housebound.  It's unusually easy to get welfare.

Are you still considering to apply?  Even if the outcome is that you get shot down, the state will have a psychiatrist do the most thorough examination of your problems FOR FREE!!!!  You would get a 5+ page in-depth analysis of your diagnosis, and boy does that come in handy for any future therapist or doctor.

that is something to think of. I do have problems and probably deserve disability over a lot who are on it for other reasons but at the same time if I do get it that would just keep where I am at I know me I wouldnt fight like I am now to get better so I dont know I am just going to keep on moving forward. I really do feel bad though for people that are going through this torture that dont have financial stability I am lucky enough to have that.
