Waiting to see rheumatologist
« on: February 07, 2014, 09:16:16 AM »
Hi everyone -

I started on here about 6 months ago with heart worries after I started having chest pain for unknown reasons. My heart has checked out fine, but the chest pain still hasn't gone away.

My doctor and I are still trying to figure out what's going on, and he just did a different set of bloodwork due to a strong family history of autoimmune disease. Sure enough, a couple things there showed up abnormal. He said it will take further testing to figure out what exactly is the issue, and has referred me to a local rheumatologist, but the wait for an appointment is 3-4 months!

I'm struggling with how to keep myself from imagining worst case scenarios while I wait for further testing. My m has rheumatoid arthritis, so that is probably the most likely issue, but I'm having more muscle pain than joint pain and that makes me worry about connective tissue disorders. Any tips of staying calm, cool and collected during the wait?
